Pre-collegiate Coordinator, Student Transition Programs
University of Washington Tacoma
As a military brat, DJ has lived in countless areas around the world but the “253” is his home. Many years ago, DJ’s parents moved to the U.S. from Guam to provide his siblings and him with opportunities they did not have growing up. Education, in particular, was one of those opportunities.
In school DJ always wanted to do well but often struggled. He eventually overcame his barriers because of the support he got from his family and mentors. As a result, DJ became the first in his family to go to college and earn his Bachelor’s from Pacific Lutheran University in 2004. Shortly after college, he along with a handful of close friends started the non-profit organization Fab-5 to serve as a platform for music, dance, and visual expression. In 2013, DJ completed his Master’s degree from The Evergreen State College and married his wife, Amanda Crisostomo, who is a high school Biology teacher.
Currently, DJ works for the University of Washington Tacoma doing outreach for the college where he encourages all students to make informed decisions about their post-secondary options.
