His leadership in insurance also includes positions as Co-President of Safeco Insurance and Chief Marketing Officer for Torrent Technologies. Roe started his career in the Washington\, D.C.\, office of U.S. Senator Slade Gorton\, after studying Economics and Political Science at the University of Washington.\n\n \n\nJeff serves on the Boards of the National Institute for Health Care Management\, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association\, Washington Healthcare Forum\, University of Washington Foster School of Business\, United Way of Snohomish County and the Visiting Committee of the University of Washington Economics Department.\n\n\n\nJeff will discuss key trends in healthcare nationally and locally\, including:\n\n	Why healthcare is so expensive\, what is behind those rising costs\, and what should be done to help slow the increases.\n	The role of private insurance\, why it is important to patients\, and why moving to a single payer or public option system would be a mistake.\n	Innovation in healthcare and why the healthcare system needs to be as obsessed about the customer experience as Amazon\, Nordstrom and Starbucks.
