He previously served as the Command Surgeon for U.S. Africa Command. Colonel Taylor graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (cum laude) and was a Distinguished Military Cadet in 1995.  He received his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1999 as an Alpha Omega Alpha scholar.  He completed his residency in family medicine at Womack Army Medical Center in 2002. He also completed a Master?s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina\, Chapel Hill.
