His previous assignment was the chief of staff of the Army Medical Department Center and School\, Fort Sam Houston\, Texas.\n\n\n\nA native of Washington State\, he earned his bachelor of science in psychology cum laude from the University of Washington and was a distinguished military graduate commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.
