Speaking on the theme, “Tacoma Rising”, Strickland will review major accomplishments of 2014 and share plans for the new year on several topics including Tacoma 2025, economic development, education, international relations, broadband Internet access, transportation, and President Barack Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” Challenge. Event attendees and members of the public are encouraged to engage with the Mayor during her address using the #SOTC253 Twitter hashtag. "Tacoma is on the rise and we made great strides in 2014,” says Strickland. “Now, it is more vital than ever that we all work together in true partnership to build on that momentum, and build an economy that will help all of our residents and businesses thrive.”
