Return from China - Lessons Learned and e-comm Opportunities Ahead
The US Commercial Service's Christine Kelley will share anecdotes and lessons learned during her posting in China as well as free and low-cost export promotion services now available through federal government.
Christine is a Commercial Service Officer with the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service currently serving at the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Seattle. Prior to her assignment in Seattle, Christine served as a Commercial Officer in Guangzhou, China, where she was responsible for promoting U.S. exports and helping American companies to level the playing field in the Transport, Environmental Technologies, Energy, Manufacturing, Education, Franchise and Retail sectors.
Prior to joining the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service in 2016, Christine spent eight years in the Aerospace and Defense industry at Northrop Grumman Corporation as an international business development manager, where she was primarily responsible for developing unmanned aircraft system (UAS) markets worldwide as well as supporting UAS technology export strategies. In 2014, Christine joined Northrop Grumman’s Global Assessment department in the company’s Corporate Global Business Development Office, where she and her team of analysts provided market strategy, industrial partnering and competitive intelligence support for enterprise-wide business units seeking to expand into overseas markets.
The WTC Tacoma's Mike Fowler will tell of some unexpected results from tariffs, lead a discussion on likely trade-negotiation outcomes, and offers insights on export opportunities for which the prospects will grow stronger regardless of US-China trade negotiation outcomes.
Mike Fowler serves as Senior Trade Consultant at the World Trade Center Tacoma. Mike is fluent in Chinese and Japanese and has extensive experience as a consultant assisting US firms access Asian markets. Chair Emeritus of the Pacific Northwest International Trade Alliance, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of World Affairs Council in Tacoma. A former Senior Editor of Business Tokyo magazine, Mike holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from Sophia University Graduate School of Comparative Culture in Tokyo and a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
