Credential Specialist

Administrative, Support & Clerical

Hiring Range: $18.46-$20.50 per hour, with excellent benefits.
Work Schedule:
FT; Monday – Friday. 8am – 5pm.
General Description:
The Credential Specialist provides high quality service as administrative support for the Registrar’s Office with an emphasis on credit evaluations of prospective and current students, accelerated BSN curriculum processing, and student record maintenance. This position also performs accelerated BSN degree audits, processes course equivalencies, and supports other key unit functions. Reports to the Registrar.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Support student credit evaluations by reviewing transcripts through researching course work, accreditation, degree programs, grade conversions and credit translations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining course equivalency data in the student information system.
  • Manage prerequisite equivalencies for the traditional and accelerated undergraduate nursing program in coordination with the School of Nursing. Correspond with partners needing assistance in determining equivalencies.
  • Process matriculation and curriculum changes for the accelerated undergraduate nursing program to ensure students have accurate records.
  • Partner with the ABSN admission team to support the ABSN admission process.
  • Assist in the review and awarding of accelerated undergraduate nursing degrees using the CAPP degree audit system.
  • Support the use of the paperless document imaging system.
  • Serve as backup for other records services functions, as well as responding to general front desk inquiries in the absence of student interns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to serve a diverse array of students and other PLU constituents.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, Google Apps for Education, and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3 years of related experience. Education may substitute for some experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Finalist applicants must satisfactorily complete background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education, preferably in Enrollment Management (Registrar, Admission, Student Success).
