The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Tacoma Art Museum’s foundation, government, and corporate grants program, including cultivation, solicitation, and reporting for all current funders, as well as the identification and cultivation of new funding prospects.

This individual identifies and cultivates funding sources; prepares proposals, reports, and correspondence; and acts as a steward for all grant contributions within the foundation, government, and corporate sectors. They work closely with the Director of Development in coordinating strategies for grant funding opportunities, manage the annual grants/reports calendar, and collaborate closely with across departments to ensure complete proposals.

Responsibilities

Coordinates efforts across departments to facilitate the writing and preparation of all grant proposals, budgets, and reports
Collaborates with Development Director to set revenue and stewardship goals and track progress.
Maintain grants/reports calendar and roster which includes timelines for cultivation/stewardship action steps and deadlines for proposals, reports, and invoice/fiscal year agreement issuances.
Regularly meet with new and established donors in the corporate, foundation, and government grant sectors to update, gain perspective of funding priorities, build relationships, and solicit on behalf of Tacoma Art Museum.
Develop and implement cultivation strategies and effective stewardship of these funding sectors.
Actively research and identify new opportunities for public and private funding; share opportunities with key staff to determine goals.
Collaborate with finance department in preparation of financials required for grants and reports.
Collaborate with development, marketing, and curatorial teams to ensure consistent and accurate language is used in cultivation and solicitation.
Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support to the development department staff across projects and campaigns.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience with grant lifecycle including prospecting, cultivation, writing, and securing successful award(s) of $250,000+
Basic understanding of nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, administrative processes and procedures, standard accounting practices, and database use.
Strong attention to detail and ability to write clear proposals.
Strong nonprofit storyteller who is able to clearly explain Tacoma Art Museum’s vision, mission, values, and programs using data and outcomes to strengthen proposals with strong attention to detail.
Excels at setting and managing realistic deadlines; strong time management skills.
Ability to multitask and juggle many projects at once.
The qualified candidate must be committed to the museum’s brand personality: innovative, passionate, civic-minded, gracious, and approachable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Familiarity with CRM software
